lyrics

These chains are too heavy, and these bars are too bold. Must be 10 years already, since I got too tired of growing too old. I’m searching for shelter from the oncoming storm. A long torn down belter, who yearns for the moment when he’s safe and warm.
I’ve pictured a life on a roundabout, now I feel the grass growing under my feet. I was sure I would die for it, now I’m just living it out. Glad to be here - if grass was the ground where we’d meet.
There was no beginning, but there will be an end. The wheel will stop spinning, and I hope there is time enough to be on the mend. Just hand me a mirror, ‘cause I need to know. I got to see clearer if the day’s getting nearer, and I got to go.
I’ve pictured a life on a roundabout, now I feel the grass growing under my feet. I was sure I would die for it, now I’m just living it out. Glad to be here - if grass was the ground where we’d meet.
My heart fills with sadness with the night drawing near. Remembering the gladness of yesterday’s years, with nothing to fear. Nothing to fear. Nothing to fear. Nothing to fear.
